Thumbs Up

The paramedics that attended to me before my trip to the hospital. They were excellent and went well above what was required. Dragging me up those stairs one step at a time and also helping Rayls who was just as unwell as I was. They ensured we were both admitted and came back to check on us later. Holly and Katie, many thanks.

University College London Hospital looked after both of us very well. Everybody was just fantastic, couldn't have asked for better attention and it was all free.

The people at Avis Rent a Car were understanding to our delay and held the car for us. The car itself was very good and pick up and return went as well as you could expect.

The road system in UK is pretty good, although lots of roundabouts. The road markings were not always as clear as Australia but overall a big pass. I also liked the fact that drivers didn't dilly dally in the fast lane on multi lane roads. It was move across, pass quickly and get back. Here is Australia people will take many kilometres to pass a car and then often stay in the fast lane.

Edgbaston Cricket Ground, the staff we dealt with were excellent, the PA system (unlike the WACA and Perth Stadium) was good and you could understand what was being said. There was a relatively good range of food and £6 for unlimited soft drinks was a good one for me.

Not Sure

Singapore Airlines, just average I thought, not bad, not good. The food was bad but that;s probably more just Rayls and I - we like ordinary food and not the fancy stuff dished up.

I wasn't impressed by the lack of water at Singapore Airport on the way back. We couldn't buy drinks before security for our Perth flight as we couldn't get them through security. Then post security, as we waited to board, there was nowhere to get a drink. After take off it was at least 30 minutes before we got a small drink.

Thumbs Down

I am sure if you know London you know the tube. As tourists of the elderly variety, and unwell, we struggled with the steps and lack of knowing where the hell we were going. On our last few days we were using the district line and different services go to different locations and that was confusing for us. On our trip to Emirates Stadium we transferred to the circle line and that was crowded with a heater system working overtime. It was stifling hot and uncomfortable. Many of the carriages were crowded to unreasonable. I am sure it's a great system if you're use to it.

I though the English suporters at Edgbaston were over the top with their parochialism. I am use to polite applause if something good happens no matter the team. I have never been a fan of the barmy army even though they seem to be media favourites. This was the barmy army at their absolute worst.
