Sitting at Gate 154 at LAX. Early, but less stress that way. QF96 is already at the gate and scheduled for takeoff in two hours.
Tried to sleep in as long as possible this morning and eventually checked out of the hotel a bit before 11am. Light brunch and then to In n Out burger near the end of the LAX runway. Couldn't find a parking spot and ended up at the other side of the airport where the dude who does the LAX Live Stream on YouTube is located. Interesting watching him for a bit. Then back to In n Out Burger where I managed to park and watched planes landing for a couple of hours whilst Rayls read her book.
At 3pm I drove to the airport proper and we checked our heavy bags in with Qantas. I managed to improve our seating to the back of the plane where there are just 2 seats and no one on the aisle to annoy if we need a restroom break.
Then back to In n Out Burger for a bit more plane spotting, then return the car and catch the shuttle bus to the airport where we went through security and arrived at the gate a but over 2 hours before departure.
The last day of the trip always seems a mess. Qantas always flys from LA in the evening, in fact 8:40pm is earlier than normal. So with a 11am hotel check out and not wanting to get too far from the airport it's s real dead day.

Not much to report. Quiet day as we prepare for our return to Australia tomorrow.
We had a very pleasant lunch with Maria and Charlie at JB's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Torrance.
That's about it. Jimmy John's for dinner, like Subway but much better.
Now watching My Cousin Vinny on TV.

We started today with a visit to our friend Scott McKenzie's house. Scott passed away in 2012. Just before he passed, we walked with him around his neighbourhood in Silver Lake. Scott was very frail at the time and we walked very slowly and chatted. Scott was a big star in the Sixties with his hit song "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)". It was sad to see him so frail in 2012 and now every time we visit LA we remember Scott by recreating that walk and pausing in front of the house where he lived and in which he died. The web site I created with Scott's approval and support is still online at scottmckenzie.info.
Some years ago we visited some celebrity grave sites in the LA area. Included were the graves of the Three Stooges, Moe, Larry and Curly. I missed Shemp, so today we headed to the Home of Peace and Memorial Park. I forgot that being a Saturday a Jewish cemetery would be closed. Maybe next time. Across the road is the Calvary Cemetery, we went there and visited the crypt of Lou Costello, someone I have always been a fan of. Many years ago a police colleague and I learnt the Abbott and Costello Who's On First routine and performed it in public to a crowd including the then Commissioner of Police. Fun times. We also visited the gravesite of Ted Healy who was the leader of the Three Stooges back in the 1920's, not sure he was a good man but we were in the neighbourhood.
We also visited with Maria and Charlie, Shannon's parents. We will see them again tomorrow for lunch. We got back to the hotel around 4pm where Rayls did some repacking and we both had a rest.
I love the old shows on American TV, TVLand and MeTV are my favourites - ll the old black and white shows. Rayls tolerates it but draws the line at Perry Mason, pity!
