Big Bear Lake 2nd April
Jet lag still has me bad, slept very little last night and then didn’t wake up till 11:00am. Such a waste of precious time here in Big Bear.
We had lunch at Dennys and then started out driving around the lake. It is probably a 20-minute drive but it took us a couple of hours checking out the spots.
Rayls loves the carved wooden bears that are very common here, just tough to ship home. Lots of photos taken.
It was a perfect sunny day and Big Bear is just such a beautiful place.
On the other side of the lake is the town of Fawnskin where there is a cool park with much to do. I threw my first ever horseshoe and wham round around the peg. I had a run in with a cop! Had a ride on a wagon and there was even a 9/11 remembrance area with a part of one of the girders from the WTC.
Rayls looked around the village centre and I even found a quilt shop for her to check out – Patchworks.
Big Bear Lake 1st April
Today we drove about 200 K's up to Big Bear Lake.
We started out at 9:00am and headed via the 405, 101 and 91 to Cerritos where I checked out an Apple store. Then onto Corona where Rayls checked out Stars and Scraps Quilt Shop and and then to a subway for lunch and a Joann store for Rayls.
Tough going up the mountain - winding roads and we are now at 7000 feet.
Very scenic area, nice lake and mountain views.
We had a look around and will do more tomorrow.
Sizzlers for dinner.
