Multnomah Falls - 7h April 2011
Today we started out with a 60 K drive to Multnomah Falls - a fantastic spot.
The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet and a lower falls of 69 feet, with a gradual 9 foot drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is given as 620 feet. It really is quite spectacular with a bridge between the two falls.
We parked the car at the nearby Wahkeena Falls and had a very pleasant kilometre walk along a trail with moss and ferns either side.
Enjoyed an hour or so and got a little wet from the spray created by the falling water.
More from the falls........
and on to Washington!
After the falls we made a long 100 K trek back to Yamhill to check out a quilt shop. Nice drive into the country and Rayls said the shop was well worth the visit. Then onto Hillsboro for another shop and more scenery as we drive the less beaten track. Actually at one stage I think I found the beaten track, a very rough track with pot holes than road.
After Hillsboro we did more country driving till we left Oregon and crossed the Lewis and Clark Bridge and entered Washington. Another shop at Longview and then one in Castle Rock before we ended up in a suburb of Seattle called Des Moines. Nice Trip Advisor reviewed hotel called the Sea Tac Valu In - just $39 a night.
Nice Dinner at Shari's and all in all another good day.
